When the sun goes down

MaxColor Vision keeps colour in low light. In full darkness eufy recommends infrared (four 850 nm LEDs, up to 10 m) or the adaptive spotlight.

Added in eufy’s August 2026 guide: update the Mini’s firmware before pairing. 8 GB built in (a little less usable), plus a microSD card up to 1 TB, sold separately.

Professional S1 runs it

eufy’s own S1 compatibility guide lists this camera by model, T8162.

HomeBase 2 won’t run it

eufy’s S3 Pro FAQ says so directly.

Battery and solar figures are eufy’s own published numbers; real results vary with placement, traffic, sunlight and settings. On battery or solar it records events, with Smart Snapshot stills between them, not continuous video. eufy’s AU page says 24/7 recording needs a power adapter and Wired Mode in the eufy app; its US page still lists Wired Mode as in development, so check your firmware.

Does colour night vision work in total darkness?

Colour needs a little light. In full darkness eufy recommends infrared or the spotlight.

This add-on camera cannot work standalone and requires a compatible eufy HomeBase, sold separately. HomeBase 3 (S380) and HomeBase Mini are supported, and eufy’s current compatibility list also supports HomeBase Professional S1 (T9000). HomeBase 2 is not compatible. Features can differ by base and firmware. No HomeBase is included, and there is no standalone or microSD route.

MaxColor Vision uses the F1.0 aperture, large stacked sensor and image processing to retain colour in ultra-low light. In complete darkness, switch to infrared or the adaptive spotlight.

Can we just connect the camera to Wi-Fi?

No. It is an add-on and requires a compatible HomeBase.

What about the old HomeBase 2 that looks almost the same?

HomeBase Mini works too (eufy added it in August 2026; update its firmware first); HomeBase 2 does not. HomeBase 3, HomeBase Mini and Professional S1 all run it. There is no standalone mode or microSD slot.

HomeBase 3 local storage

Local storage has no mandatory monthly fee.
